the new Jesus

When Jesus walked the earth, he incarnated God in the world, introducing humanity to the divine. Now that Jesus has ascended back to heaven, that same task is left to the church, collectively, as the body of Christ. In this strictly defined sense, we are the new Jesus. I had the chance this past Sunday to say as much from the pulpit at Mars Hill Church. The audio is available here.

This coming Sunday, I'll take my first crack at filling the pulpit of Mars Hill Church. I'm planning to sneak in a little about The Painted Door toward the end, maybe rally some support and till some soil for fund-raising. It should be a blast, but I anticipate being pretty exhausted by the time we finish three services. I've never preached back to back to back, so if you're in the area come on out and give me a couple hollers if you're up to it. Or just dump Red Bull on my head.

Of Lyons and logos

Pastor Mark Driscoll of our sending church, Mars Hill, mentioned our plans to plant in Chicago a couple Sundays back during his sermon. The impact is still rippling. Podcasters throughout the Chicago area began contacting me asking where they could sign up and how they could help. Among the well-wishers, Alex Lyons of Lyontamer Productions offered to shoot a promotional video for The Painted Door free of charge. I jumped at the chance and will be flying out to Chicago in less than two weeks to make a video that we can show prospective donors. I'll be sure to post it here when it's finished.

For now, here's another little piece of eye candy that I hired Mars Hill's lead graphic designer to build for me. I'm a fan.
